Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) was founded in 1983 as part of the US' "War on Drugs". It consisted of police officers who made visits to elementary school classrooms, warning children that drugs are harmful and should be refused. After several decades it was found that the program was at best ineffective, and at worst harmful and counterproductive. Eventually the program was heavily defunded and rebranded as "Keepin it Real" (KiR).
These brass Skull & Crossbones tokens were part of the 80s and 90s swag given to children as prizes to encourage them not to succumb to peer pressure. I have collected these iconic pieces and turned them into lockets, in case you need your own reminder to stay strong in the face of life's many challenges!
Lockets are lacquered to preserve shine. Comes on a raw brass rolo chain in the length of your choice.
