I have been making spoon rings for over a decade, and this is the only copy of this particular spoon I have ever come across. It is a clear rendition of one of the cherubs in Raphael’s The Two Cherubs of the Sistine Madonna. Perhaps this spoon had been a souvenir sold in Dresden? Perhaps it was part of a pair, sold with another utensil featuring the little angel's companion?
Cherubs are are often depicted in religious art as being in close proximity to the divine presence, symbolizing their role as intermediaries between heaven and earth.
Ring is silverplate. Size 8.5 (slightly adjustable).
